| In
Montreal a second International Symposium on the Science of Touch:
Towards an Integrative Medecine
It was in front of 300
people in May 2002, that Dr Réal Gaboriault, President of
the Canadian Touch Research Center (CTRC) launched the first International
Symposium on the Science of Touch (ISST). A world premiere !
From May 12-15, 2004, Montreal will
once again host the second edition of this prestigious event which,
as well as its important research focus, will also include a series
of clinical and practical workshops of the highest quality. It will
be the ideal opportunity for researchers, doctors, massage therapists
and other health therapists to gather together and share the fruits
of their research and clinical experience in the field of touch.
"It is with great enthusiasm
that we are organizing this second symposium with supporters whose
credibility is well established. Dr. David Eisenberg from the world
renowned Harvard University is one of those supporters. He is the
Director of the Harvard Medical School Osher Institute and the Division
for Research and Education in Complementary and Integrative Medical
Therapies", states Dr Réal Gaboriault, Ph.D., Chairman
of the ISST 2004.
"We believe that the age of integrative
medicine has arrived, that is to say, a medicine which takes greater
account of the realities and needs of each patient and provides
both the competencies of traditional medicine along with those of
the complementary approaches, such as massage therapy", added
Dr Gaboriault.
More than 850 people are expected
at the Montreal Hilton Bonaventure for this symposium and many experts
in the field of touch research have already confirmed their attendance.
We are pleased to announce the participation of the following Honorary
Committee members: Dr. David Eisenberg, Dr. Tiffany Field of the
Touch Research Institute of the Faculty of Medicine, University

The CTRC, is presently heading several
research projects, one of them with a Community Health Center in
Montreal. "One aspect of our research is to help reduce the
suffering caused by chronic disease, which unfortunately still remain
incurable, for everyone, whatever their age, newborns or adults.
The benefits of massage therapy are so numerous that an increasing
number of doctors and specialists from all over the world are showing
a keen interest. Tomorrow's medicine will be an integrative one",
concluded Dr Gaboriault.
